A traditional mudroom built-in is assembled on-site by a local cabinet maker or general contractor. It’s fixed to the wall, paint-matched to your trim, and typically takes 3–6 months to design, schedule, and install. How it’s possible to ship a “built-in” nationwide
The trick is that our pieces are built in our shop, not on your wall. We ship larger units in 2–4 pre-finished sections that slot together in minutes; the seams are invisible once placed. Because we build to the 1/16" dimensions of your specific wall and paint in any Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, or Behr color, the piece reads as architecture once installed.
Where a shipped built-in beats a local carpenter
Cost is the obvious one: $1,400–$6,500 versus $12K–$20K for an equivalent local build. But the real gap is schedule. Most good local cabinet makers are booked 3–6 months out, and that’s before they break ground. Our lead time is 7–8 weeks from order, and the only day we occupy your home is delivery day. If you have a renovation running and the mudroom is the last thing on the punch list, we’re the fastest way to close it out.
Where a local carpenter still wins
True built-ins that integrate with plumbing, HVAC, or load-bearing walls are outside our scope. If you’re building a whole-wall cabinetry run with integrated appliances or if your mudroom needs to tie into structural framing, a local cabinet maker is the right call.
